The REN model looks like it will be a winner to comes from the famed Japanese knifemakers. The blade shape is a "Tanto-Honzukuri" or a "Tanto-convex" blade shape. As you know, they are making to the "Tanto" blade shape with the CHI model but this blade shape is "Tanto-Shinogizukuri". That means straight grind. There are only a few knife makers who make this kind of blade shape but, we have never seen a "Tanto-Honzukuri" with mirror polished surface. The handle is a combination of carbon fiber for the presentation scale with a titanium frame lock allowing for excellent weight and balance. It may not look like a Rockstead but we expect the REN to be one of the best performing knives produced anywhere in the world.
With proper maintenance, Rocksteads are known to keep a sharp edge for 2-3 years. Rockstead Knives do come with free sharpening and regrinding. You would be responsible for shipping charges to and from Japan.
